Anti-Valentine’s Day Dinner
With the emergence of Pinterest and Instagram, my social media ventricles have been a little clogged and hence the lack of Tumblr posts. There’s a lot to catch up on with this microblog of mine. (Maybe my obsession with Pinterest should be showcased here every so often.)
Anyway, I don’t like to give in to the marketing hype of Valentine’s Day. To dodge the crowded restaurants and prix fixe menus, my boyfriend and I decided to make our own special dinner. And to make things even more complicated, I wanted to make the entree mostly allergen-free: No gluten, no dairy, and no eggs. Given this challenge, making our own gnocchi was no easy task. Thankfully, we had this recipe from Cybele Pascal: http://www.cybelepascal.com/allergy-free-gnocchi/ - all we changed was almond milk instead of rice milk. Kneading the dough was not as easy as I thought it would be, but the end result was better than we expected.
Good thing the stores were out of white chocolate that day. Butterscotch made a good substitute to pair with chocolate to cover the strawberries in for dessert!
