These are gluten-free since they’re made with almond flour; plus, they are naturally sweetened. I made these the other night and they turned out perfectly delicious and moist!

After moving to San Francisco and spotting the It’s-It ice cream factory several times from the freeway, I’ve been curious about the touted treats. I was excited to find some of the ice cream sandwiches at Lucky, and even read the history of It’s-It online when I got home (www.itsiticecream.com). This delectable piece of heaven is made of vanilla, mint, or cappuccino ice cream sandwiched between two oatmeal cookies and dipped in dark chocolate. Now I need to try the others, and somehow convince the factory to give me a free tour. Check it out at a Nor Cal grocery store or the factory - Hawaii friends can even get it at Safeway.

If you want Cinnabon for breakfast with the sweetness level turned down a few notches, a brioche pain perdu (basically a sort of cinnamon french toast) at La Note in Berkeley will do the trick.
The only other trick needed would be for my body to process it as “healthy” food.
I need to make my own terrariums. They’d be good gifts, too.

A milestone birthday called for a fabulous birthday party without the fabulous high price this year. And what theme could be more fab than prom?! My close friend since middle school, Enna, and I threw a joint prom party in Hawaii. Since I was flying to Hawaii from San Francisco, I needed this party to still be awesome while on a budget.

One of my dear friends in LA, Ella, apparently follows my social media posts and is familiar with my current obsession with French macarons. For my birthday gift, she was thoughtful enough to help fund my “macaron quest” in San Francisco. Since she couldn’t obtain gift cards, she created gift card size “pockets” to place money in using artwork from noted locations that carry these coveted treats. I have previously posted about Pâtisserie Philippe at some point, and I’m sure I’ll be back soon. Thanks to Ella I’ll have more reasons to continue the macaron-filled posts!

Holy crab!
Before embarking on a hike at Cataract Falls, we decided to stop by Sausalito for lunch at Fish. We took the advice of Yelpers who recommended the BBQ oysters and crab rolls. At $25 for a crab roll and oysters at 3 for $9 (and cash only), it wasn’t recession friendly, but we split it among two people. It turns out it was all worth it. The buttery crab was heavily piled on and the oysters were grilled to perfection. Must go back.
